| This
Victorian era black and red visiting gown dates from 1890. It is
made of an unusual textured black silk wool blend fabric with a
red silk yoke, high neck collar and cuffs. There is black sequin
trim edging the bodice with a black net leaf lace covering the yoke.
The bodice is fully lined in a pink calico cotton fabric with red
stays and has hidden hooks and eyes down the front for closure.
The bodice has a 22 inch waist, 34 inch bust and 12 inch back. The
matching fabric full skirt is lined and has a slight train. It measures
47 inches long in the back, 42 inches long in the front, with a
22 inch waist. This unique two piece gown has wonderful workmanship
and detail. It is in excellent wearable condition with only a few
pulls in the black net and some fraying on the black silk ribbon
bow at the waist. The photos have been lightened to show the detail
and the color of the gown is a true dark black. $250 |
