Chinese Manchu Peking Knot Wedding Skirt Front view.

This antique Chinese Manchu Peking knot wedding skirt dates from the Qing Dynasty. It is made of red and royal blue silk, with yellow silk jacquard trim. There are two matching apron panels which are all hand embroidered with colorful Forbidden blind seed stitch Peking knot work, and gold couching work. The skirt has pleated sides with appliqués of golden pheasant birds done in gold couching with silk tassels hanging down. There is a wide linen waistband sewn along the top, with ties and buttons for closure. This fabulous early wrap around style wedding skirt apron is all hand stitched. The skirt measures 35 inches long, and has a 45 inch waistband. It is in excellent clean wearable condition with only some faint stains on the linen waistband. This is a great piece of unique one of a kind wearable art.
