This antique Victorian era black jet beaded cape capelet dates from 1890. It is made of a black silk grosgrain ribbed fabric covered with jet beading. There is a scrolling floral beaded design on both the front, back, and around the high neck collar. The sides are open with long strands of jet beading strung in a see through mesh design. There is long black beaded fringe hanging down from the bottom. The inside is lined in black silk, with a silk waistband tie. There are hooks and eyes down the front for closure. This fabulous short capelet style cape mantle measures 20 inches long, with a 15 inch neck, 18 inch back, and 34 inch bust. It is in good wearable condition, with only a few missing beads. The silk lining inside is frayed and should be removed or replaced.
