This antique Victorian Civil War era brown plaid silk dress bodice and skirt dates from the 1860s. It is hand stitched and made of a two tone brown plaid pattern silk fabric with brown velvet trim. This exquisite 3 piece matching ensemble includes a finished bodice, unfinished skirt fabric, and separate sash belt. The beautiful bodice has a fitted waist, long full bishop style sleeves, and brown velvet buttons down the front for closure. It is fully lined in linen with short stays boning sewn inside. The bodice measures 15 1/2 inches long, with a 23 inch waist, and 32 inch bust. There are several yards of unused skirt fabric which has been lined in a polished cotton fabric. The fabric measures 47 inches wide, and 166 inches long. There is also a matching fabric sash style belt with velvet trim and a rosette trim front. This outstanding outfit and fabric is in excellent clean condition, and has never been used. A talented seamstress could finish the skirt to create a wearable period dress. It is a wonderful piece of early Victoriana.
