This extraordinary antique Victorian Civil War era brown chenille beaded cape shawl dates from the 1860s. It is hand made of a multi-colored iridescent brown silk chenille fringe woven together with brown threads and tiny iridescent bronze beads used as spacers in-between the fringe. There is long chenille fringe tassels around the collar, down the front and around the bottom hem. This fabulous fringed cape has a sheer shawl wrap style with a brown silk velvet ribbon tie for closure at the neck. The cape measures 40 inches long, with a 27 inch neck and has a 164 inch bottom circumference. It is in excellent clean wearable condition and is truly a magnificent museum quality garment This is a wonderful piece of wearable Victoriana art.
