Silk Maltese Cross Collar Lot. |
| This
lot of two Victorian era antique silk Maltese cross collars date
from the 1850s. They are made of a honey ecru color silk bobbin
lace with the distinctive Maltese Cross design and small flat leaves,
petals or wheat ears. Each of the two collars have a different unique
yet distinctive design and are all hand done. These collars come
from the island of Malta. The collars each measure approximately
40 inches in circumference outside, 15 1/2 inches around the inside
neck and are 5 inches wide. They are in excellent wearable condition
and are wonderful piece of antique lace art.
