antique Victorian era blue velvet corduroy Swiss waist cincher dates
from the 1880s. It is made of a dark navy blue corduroy ribbed velvet
fabric. There is black silk lining with stays sewn inside and eyelet
holes with black lacing on both the front and back for closure.
This wonderful waist cincher; which are sometimes referred to as
a Waspie or Swiss Waist is a sort of corset belt worn around the
waist to make the wearer's waist physically smaller, or to create
the illusion of being smaller. The waist cincher measures 8 inches
high, with a 26 inch adjustable waist. It is in excellent wearable
condition and comes with an additional small strip of matching fabric.
The laces have been replaced with newer ones. $50 |
