Turkish Embroidered Linen Silver Sash. |
This
antique Ottoman period Turkish embroidered linen silver sash towel
dates from the late 1800s. It is made of a homespun hand woven linen
fabric with hand embroidery cross stitch crewel work. There are
colorful pastel silk and silver metallic thread embroidery work
and hand applied silver metal stud accents. Along the two bottom
ends are 2 1/2 inch long fringed trim edgings. There are matching
domestic striped floral geometric embroidered decorative designs
on both sides of the mid 19th century sash ends fabric towel. The
towel sash measures 44 inches long and 17 inches wide. It has wonderful
workmanship and is in good condition, with only a tiny frayed hole
near the side and a few small faint age spot stains from storage.
This is truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of Ottoman Turkish
