| This
antique early Victorian era green silk quilted petticoat skirt dates
from the 1840s. It is all hand stitched and made of a pale celadon
green silk brocade fabric with a raised swiss dot pattern. The bottom
of the skirt has a decorative hand quilted garland leaf design.
This wonderful winter petticoat has a full hoop skirt, is fully
lined with a polished brown cotton fabric and has a linen waistband
with no closure on back. The petticoat measures 40 inches long,
with a 25 inch waist. It is in good wearable condition, with only
some faint water spotting along the bottom. This is a wonderful
American early example of a hand quilted petticoat and is a deaccession
from the Brooklyn Museum. $350 |
