This vintage Gina Fratini black velvet ruffle jacket & skirt dress dates from the 1980s. It is made of black velvet with a black silk pleated ruffle trim edging. This wonderful winter Victorian era Charles Dickens inspired two piece dress includes a matching jacket and skirt. The fabulous fitted jacket has a high neck ruffled collar, V front neckline, long tapered sleeves, a peplum skirted waist with draping fabric bustle back. There are black silk buttons down the front for closure. The jacket measures 25 inches long in the front, 30 inches long in the back, with a 26 inch waist, 36 inch bust, 16 inch back and 24 inch long sleeves. There is a long floor length skirt with slight bustle back train. The skirt measures 43 inches long, with 40 inch hips and a 26 inch waist. Both pieces are fully lined in a black nylon fabric and have a "Gina Fratini Made in England" label sewn inside. Gina Fratini designed for films and for the stage before starting her own label. She was known for her romantic designs and made dresses for royals Princess Diana and Princess Anne. This beautiful designer outfit is in excellent wearable condition, with only some slight discoloration on the inside lining.
