Cheongsam Qi Pao Embroidered Dress. |
This
vintage Chinese cheongsam qi pao embroidered dress dates from the
1930s. It is made of a black silk satin fabric, with colorful silk
raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work of peony flowers
and roundels of Asian inspired figural pagoda village designs. This
lovely form fitting floor length straight cheongsam Chinese dress
has a scoop neckline, long full sleeves with wide flared cuffs and
front overlap to the right side held with many silk loop toggle
knotted buttons for closure. There are no zippers or snaps. Manchu
women wore normally a one piece dress which were called "qipao"
or "banner dress" and has become the traditional dress
for Chinese women. The dress measures 53 inches long, with 40 inch
hips, waist, bust and a 17 inch back. This pretty Shanghai Girl
"Suzie Wong" style dress is in excellent clean wearable
