Victorian Civil War Blue Plaid Silk Hoop Skirt Dress Gown Front view.

This antique Victorian Civil War era blue plaid silk hoop skirt dress gown dates from the 1860s. It is hand stitched and made of an iridescent blue and white plaid pattern silk moiré fabric, with blue silk trim edging the sleeves. This early gown one piece dress has a fitted bodice, shoulder plait panels, a rounded neckline, flared bell shaped pagoda style sleeves, pleating at the waist and a full exaggerated hoop skirt (hoop not included underneath). It is fully lined in a white polished cotton fabric, with an added crinoline skirt sewn inside for fullness. The bodice has an inner cotton camisole lining sewn inside, with brass hooks and eyes for closure and decorative blue silk button trim sewn down the front. The dress measures 59 inches long, with a 24 inch waist, 34 inch bust, 15 inch back and 34 inch sleeve circumference.  It is in excellent wearable condition, with only a small faint age spot stain on the front bodice.
