This amazing antique Chinese blue silk damask weave dragon, butterfly, spider embroidered robe dates from the mid 19th century during the Qing Dynasty.

This amazing antique Chinese blue silk damask weave dragon, butterfly, spider embroidered robe dates from the mid 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is made of a dark midnight blue silk fabric, with a gold damask weave woven dragon roundels medallion design. There are varying shades of blue raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work done in a variety of flowers, insects, butterflies and spiders. The spider was often used as a symbol for luck, believed to bring happiness and wealth. This magnificent Manchu court robe is a long length, loose fitting, with a front opening carved brass round button toggle closures, long full sleeves, with scalloped flared wide cuffs, side, back slits along the bottom for easy movement and is fully lined. The robe measures 40 inches long, with 46 inch hips, a 46 inch waist and 46 inch chest. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a rare and exceptional piece of antique Chinese textile art!
