Black Beaver Stovepipe Top Hat & Box. |

| This
antique Victorian era black beaver stovepipe top hat and box dates
from the 1850s. It is made of black felted beaver fur, with a red
silk ribbon hat band and gold foil paper embossed seal label on
the side. This American made upper class gentlemen's tall stovepipe
top hat is lined in blue paper with a "Boston W.W. Kendrick
& Co." label inside. The hat measures 6 1/2 inches tall,
with a 2 inch wide brim and is 23 inches in circumference inside
the crown. There is some wear to the nap, fraying to the silk trim
binding the brim and a few small dents on the sides. Included with
the hat is the original hand stitched wall paper covered hat box.
The outside has a print of a top hat on either side and the inside
is lined with pages from the New England Farmers Almanac dated 1851.
The oval shaped box measures 8 inches tall and 39 inches in circumference.
There is wear to the box with water spotting, yellowing paper peeling
and dents. This antique top hat and box set is truly a rare wonderful
