Titanic Black Velvet Feathered Large Wide Brim Hat. |
This antique Edwardian Titanic era black velvet feathered large wide brim hat dates from 1912. It is made of a black silk velvet fabric, with fluffy soft black down feathers, black ostrich feather plumes cascading and completely covering the top crown. There is a white magnolia fabric flower on the front side brim. This beautiful grand "southern belle" ladies hat has an exaggerated oversized wired wide brim. There is a large round crown, with a smaller inner crown which is lined inside in black silk and would have sat atop a full Gibson Girl style updo hairdo. The hat measures 66 inches in circumference outside and 20 inches in circumference inside the crown. It is in excellent clean wearable condition. This is truly a rare and wonderful example of a Titanic era hat and is the largest one I have ever had. $450 |
