This
antique Chinese Buddhist deity funeral wall hanging dates from the
late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty also known as the "Dragon
Throne". It is made of a linen fabric background with raised
padded satin stitch embroidery work, and gold couching work. There
are Chinese characters, and Buddhist deity figures of Quan Yin,
Guan Yin, Kwan Yin. She is the goddess of mercy, and friend of mankind.
She is one of the most famous Chinese Buddha Images, and is the
model of Chinese beauty. This unique large wall hanging altar temple
banner would have been hung at a funeral. It is all hand stitched
and pieced together with wonderful workmanship. The cloth measures
44 inches long, and 51 inches wide, and is in excellent clean useable
condition, with only a few loose threads. This is truly an exceptional
piece of antique Chinese textile art, and a rare find.
