This antique Victorian era silver foil lithograph brisé fan dates from the 1850s. It is made of pleated paper covered with a raised relief rococo style silver foil on the front. There is a colorful hand painted lithograph print medallion appliqué attached to the front center with three court ladies and a young girl playing with a doll. The fan has carved and pierced bone sticks and guards with a mother of pearl rivet attached onto the bottom holding the fan together. It comes in the original paper box with hand stitched ends and is marked on the bottom "Aunt Phoebe". The fan measures 9 1/2 inches long and 20 inches wide when opened. This fabulous fan is in excellent useable condition with only some slight tarnish discoloration on the silver foil.
