Turkish Tugra Embroidered Gold Purse. |
This
antique Ottoman period Turkish Tugra embroidered gold purse dates
from 1920s. It is all hand embroidered with gold metallic threads
done in a tambour chain stitch crewel needlework background and
colorful pastel silk embroidery work. There are embroidered flowers,
stars, crescent moons, Arabic lettering and the Tugra of Mehmed
VI the 36th and last sultan of the Ottoman Empire in the center.
The purse has gold metallic crochet lace trim edging and is missing
the drawstring closure. It is fully lined in a white cotton fabric
inside. This unique drawstring reticule pouch purse measures 10
inches long and 8 inches wide. It is in excellent clean condition
and looks to have never been used. This is truly a beautiful one
of a kind piece of antique Turkish textile art. $100 |
