This antique Victorian era black chantilly lace carved ebony folding fan dates from the 1880s. It is made of a sheer fine black net chantilly lace with a vine grape leaf floral pattern. There are intricately carved black ebony sticks and guards and a loop rivet attached on the bottom holding the fan together. This fabulous fan might have been used by a lady for a ball dance or for mourning. The fan measures 10 inches long and 26 inches wide when opened. It is in good useable condition, with only a slight break in two of the narrow back sticks (see bottom photo for close-up).
