This antique Victorian era black silk quilted wool winter petticoat skirt dates from 1870. It is made of a black silk fabric, with diamond shape pattern quilted stitching details. This beautiful black winter petticoat has a long floor length full skirt, a fitted wide drop waist with black silk button closures on the back and button hole strap tabs at the top and is fully lined with brown cotton fabric inside the top, worsted wool fabric underneath and velvet trimming the inside hemline. The skirt measures 38 inches long, with a 28 inch waist and 56 inch hips. It is in good as-is condition, with a one loose button which needs to be resewn and a few frayed splits in the silk fabric along the side (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana wearable art!
