This Edwardian antique handmade sheer black battenburg bobbin tape lace dress dates from 1915. It is hand made of a sheer fine black filmy linen tape lace, joined by bobbin made braids and thread bars creating an abstract patchwork effect design pattern. This lovely lace dress has a long, loose fitting, straight shift style, with a low scoop neckline, short sleeves with scalloped trimmed cuffs coming to a point, an over the head style with no side opening closures and is sheer, unlined. The dress measures 52 inches long, with a 40 inch bust, 32 inch waist and 42 inch hips. It is in good as-is condition, with only a few small frayed breaks in the lace.
