Vintage 20s Art Deco Black Silk Pyramid Beaded Watteau Back Drape Flapper Dress
This vintage Art Deco silk pyramid beaded watteau back drape flapper dress dates from the 1920s. It is made of a black silk fabric, with black jet beading done in Art Deco abstract geometric designs and pyramids. This fabulous flapper dress has a Grecian style, with layered tunic design, watteau back drape panel attached at the shoulders and bottom skirt hem, backed in a blue silk fabric, black Chantilly lace trim insert on the front top, layered sleeves attached underneath to a silk camisole lining inside, a beaded rope tassel ends sash belt, snaps closures along the side and shoulder. The dress measures 51 inches long, with a 38 inch bust, 30 inch waist, 42 inch hips, 14 inch back and 19 inch long sleeves. It is in fair as-is condition, needing restoration, with some loose missing beads, fade discoloration in areas, frayed splits on the inside silk lining and blue silk fabric backing (see close-ups). Would be great for design, study or pattern. This is truly a wonderful piece of Art Deco beaded textile art!
