This amazing antique Art Deco Egyptian Assuit shawl white net silver studded tunic mini dress dates from the 1920s. It is made of a white sheer cotton netting, covered with hand applied silver metal pieces done in decorative Art Deco abstract geometric designs of stick figure people, Bedouin tents and trees. Assuit shawls were made popular during the Egyptian Revival in the 1920s with the discovery of King Tut's tomb and were made in Assiut, Egypt. These Assuit shawls are also known as Tulle-bi-telli, Assuit, Asyut, Assyut, Assiut. Tulle-bi-telli translates roughly as "net with metal" and were sometimes custom made into fashionable clothing.
