This antique Victorian era white battenburg tape lace crochet trim bodice blouse top dates from 1900. It is made of a white sheer hand made battenburg tape lace with connecting thread picot ornamented bars, buttonhole stitches, decorative pinwheel spiral, scrolling, striped designs and Irish crochet raised three dimensional trim flowers, leaves on the front yoke. This lovely lace bodice blouse has a high neck collar, long sleeves, a cotton peplum skirted waist, hook closures down the back and a white cotton batiste camisole lining sewn inside. The top measures 20 inches long, with a 36 inch bust, 30 inch waist, 18 inch long sleeves, a 11 inch back and 12 inch neck. It is in good as-is condition, with a few small breaks in the lace, frayed cream silk fabric remnants around the waist, cotton side panels under the arms with no lace covering and a small frayed hole on the bottom of each side (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable antique lace art! |
