This antique Victorian era black silk jet beaded fringe mesh mantle dolman pelerine cloak cape dates from 1880. It is made of a black silk grosgrain ribbed textured fabric with jet beaded floral vine leaf scrolling spiral designs and beading strung on a sheer mesh netting with beaded fringe along the sides and shoulders. This stunning short cloak cape capelet has a dolman pelerine mantle style with a sheer meshwork woven net sides, long beaded fringe ends, a high band collar with hook closures down the front, inner straps around the waist and is unlined. The cape measures 21 inches long, with a 40 inch bust, 14 inch back and a 12 inch neck. It is in good as-is condition, needing some restoration with some loose missing beads, fringe trim along the bottom edging and the silk fabric lining inside was shattered, removed with remnants remaining (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana mourning beaded art!
