This vintage black sheer silk chiffon battenburg bobbin tape lace dress gown dates from the 1930s. It is made of a sheer black silk chiffon fabric skirt, with a hand made fine black silk tape lace, joined by bobbin made braids and thread bars creating an abstract patchwork effect cobweb design pattern. This lovely lace dress has a long fitted sheath style with a drop waist, low scoop front neckline, sleeveless, with a high low long skirt and is sheer, unlined. The dress measures 55 inches long in the front, 60 inches long in the back, with a 36 inch bust, 28 inch waist and 46 inch hips. It is in good as-is condition, with only a few small frayed breaks in the lace and a small frayed hole on the silk fabric bottom skirt hem. This is truly a wonderful piece of Gothic lace wearable art. $250 |
