This antique Victorian era black silk jet beaded fringe tassel trim dolman mantle cloak cape dates from 1880. It is made of a heavy black silk grosgrain taffeta fabric, with black jet beaded applique floral fringe tassel trim along the bottom edging, collar, cuffs and front opening. This magnificent mourning mantle dolman style cloak cape has a black lace trim ruffle neck collar with beaded applique trim accents, set in sleeves with wide flared cuffs, silk covered buttons down the front for closure, an inside waistband strap and is fully lined in a black silk fabric. The mantle measures 35 inches long, with a 42 inch chest, 14 inch back and 16 inch neck. It is in fair as-is condition, needing some restoration, with several small frays, splits scattered on the silk fabric, a small frayed hole on the shoulder, some discoloration fading on the black lace collar trim and some loose, missing beads (see close-ups).
