It is made of a white handmade Gros Point de Venise needlepoint lace with buttonhole stitches, thick cordonnets outlining the vine leaves, grapes and connecting thread picot ornamented bars buttonhole covered brides.

This Victorian era antique Gros Point de Venise grapes vine leaf needlepoint lace collar trim dates from the late 19th century. It is made of a white handmade Gros Point de Venise needlepoint lace with buttonhole stitches, thick cordonnets outlining the vine leaves, grapes and connecting thread picot ornamented bars buttonhole covered brides. This lovely lace collar dress trim has cascading bunches of grapes draping down the front lappet point ends, shoulders and back, with cutwork grape leaves, an open front with no closure and is sheer, unlined. The collar measures 32 inches long and is 9 inches wide across the back. It is in good condition, with only a tiny age spot stain on the front grape and a few tiny frayed breaks in the lace leaf on the back (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of hand made lace wearable art!
