Vintage Victorian Green Plaid Wool Blue Tufted Polka Dot Mutton Sleeve Bodice Dress
This antique Victorian era green brown plaid wool blue tufted polka dot mutton sleeve bodice dress dates from 1890. It is made of a brown, blue and green woven wool tweed fabric with a plaid pattern and blue tufted polka dot design. There is green silk ruched ruffle trim edging on the bodice with a white lace yoke high neck collar. This wonderful winter two piece gown has a tailored bodice top with a pleated full front, fitted waistband, high neck lace collar, winged shoulders, leg of mutton style tapered sleeves, hook closures down the front and is fully lined in a brown polished cotton fabric with stays, boning sewn inside. The bodice measures 16 inches long, with a 32 inch bust, 22 inch waist, 25 inch long sleeves, 10 inch back and 12 inch neck. There is a matching wool fabric, long floor length full skirt with pleated gathering on the back, a side pocket, braided trim waistband with hook closure on the back and is fully lined in a brown polished cotton fabric with black velvet trim edging along the bottom hem. The skirt measures 43 inches long, with a 22 inch waist and 64 inch hips. It is in good as-is condition, with some missing green silk trim in areas, shattering of the green silk fabric backing the yoke collar and a few frayed small holes along the bottom skirt (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana wearable art!
