This antique Victorian era cream embroidered net tape lace shawl collar cloak cape pelerine dates from 1890. It is made of an off white cream color sheer fine mesh net fabric, with embroidered stitched flowers, vine leaf, polka dot designs outlined in white threads with detailed shading effects and embroidered cotton batiste drawn thread eyelet cutwork tape lace yoke insert neckline, fold over collar trim. This lovely lace shawl style pelerine cloak cape is mid length with pointed ends down the center front, has an open front with no closure, a decorative lace trimmed fold over collar and is sheer, unlined. The cape measures 27 inches long in the front, 20 inches long in the back, with a 38 inch chest and is 17 inches wide across the back. It is in good as-is condition, has not been cleaned with a few faint small age spot stains, tiny holes in the net and a small fray along the net front top attaching to the lace neckline (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique Victoriana wearable art. $100 |
