This antique Victorian era mauve taupe wool lace appliqué traveling outfit dates from 1890. It is made of a mauve taupe gray color fine quality soft wool fabric, with decorative white lace appliqué trim along the front top opening and sleeve cuffs. There is a beautiful taupe gray and dusty rose mauve floral silk brocade fabric panel on the front skirt with a box pleated bottom hemline. This wonderful winter walking suit traveling outfit includes a bodice jacket and matching skirt. The fitted bodice style jacket has a plain mauve cotton fabric front panel which might have had a lace or silk insert jabot cover, a pink silk trim high neck collar, long tapered sleeves, stays sewn inside, with hooks and eyes for closure down the front. The bodice measures 17 inches long, with a 26 inch waist, 34 inch bust, 11 inch back and 21 inch long sleeves. There is a matching fabric full floor length long layered skirt with back train, fully lined in brown cotton, pink silk and a large dust ruffle hemline, with hook and eye closures on the waistband. The skirt measures 41 inches long in the front, 47 inches long in the back, with a 26 inch waist. It is in excellent clean wearable condition, with only 3 tiny pin holes on the back skirt waistband. It looks to have never been worn.
