This antique German Bavarian folk costume gollar collar yoke dates from the early 1800s. It is hand stitched and made of a pinkish red silk brocade fabric, with a pink, white and gold floral pattern design woven through the fabric. There is silver metallic woven lace trim sewn around the neckline collar and a red calico cotton backing. This exquisite ethnic German Bavarian tracht folk mieder gollar collar yoke stlye short cropped top vest is sleeveless, with open sides, a wrap around tie closure at the bottom and silver German coin buttons stamped "MAX.IOS" sewn down the front for decoration. It is fully lined in linen, padded for warmth and would have been worn over a blouse. The top measures 9 inches long, with a 26 inch waist. It is in excellent wearable condition and is truly a wonderful piece wearable Bavarian German folk art. |
