Art Deco Black Silk Floral Embroidered Piano Shawl. |
This antique Art Deco black silk floral embroidered piano shawl dates from the 1920s. It is made of a fine black silk fabric with colorful hand stitched embroidery work done in raised padded satin stitch, french knots and tambour crewel needlework floral rose vine leaf pattern designs. This sensational shawl has a unique rectangle shape, with the floral embroidered design along the sides and bottom only. There is a fabulous colorful black, gray, golden brown hand knotted silk macramé fringe which measures 14 inches long sewn along the sides and bottom, but the top is unadorned. The shawl measures 70 inches long and 36 inches wide. It is in good wearable condition, with only a tiny hole near the top corner. This is a wonderful piece of wearable textile art.
