Japanese Gold Floral Fan Embroidered Uchikake Wedding Kimono. |
This fabulous vintage Japanese gold embroidered floral fan uchikake wedding kimono dates from the Showa period 1960s. It is made of a heavy silk satin brocade fabric with varying transitioning pastel color shades of white, blue and peach. There are colorful silk and gold metallic couched thread embroidered flowers, fans and ribbon tassels. On the back are three hand stitched red kiri leaf mon family crests (see close-up). This magnificent unique uchikake wedding kimono would have been worn by the bride at a wedding ceremony. It is fully lined in a white and reddish orange silk fabric, with a rolled padded bottom hem. The kimono measures 75 inches long, with 45 inch long swinging furisode sleeves and is 45 inches across the shoulders. It is quite heavy weighing over 6 pounds. It is in excellent clean wearable condition. This is a truly a magnificent piece of wearable Japanese textile art.
