Victorian Gentlemen's Brown Brocade Silk Waistcoat Vest. |
This antique Victorian era gentlemen's brown brocade silk waistcoat vest dates from 1845. It is hand stitched and made of a faded plum to brown color silk satin brocade fabric, with a floral thistle pattern design. There is a brown cotton fabric backing, with back adjustment tabs, bone eyelets and lacing. It is lined in a homespun linen. There is a small fold over lapel collar, two bottom front slit pockets and 5 silk covered buttons for closure on the front. The vest measures 19 inches long, with a 34 inch waist, 38 inch chest and 23 inch circumference arm holes. It is in good wearable condition, with some fade discoloration and a couple tiny pin holes. This is truly a wonderful early Victorian vest.
