Art Deco Chinese Silver Embroidered Drop Waist Flapper Dress. |
This antique Art Deco Chinese silver embroidered drop waist flapper dress dates from the roaring 1920s. It is made of an off white ivory cream color silk chiffon fabric, with silver metallic metal thread embroidered in a Chinese inspired motif, with pagoda temples, pheasant birds, horse with rider and whip. There is a silk fabric flower trim accented with silver thread sewn onto the side hip area. This fabulous loose fitting flapper style drop waist dress evening gown is sleeveless, has a scoop neckline and an attached back drape short cape capelet. It is fully lined, with a inner slip sewn inside, hook and eye closures along the side. The dress measures 50 inches long, with 42 inch hips, a 36 inch waist and 42 inch bust. It is in good wearable condition, with some fraying of the inside silk lining and a few small faint age spot stains on the front (see close-up). The dress has not been cleaned. It is truly a rare and wonderful piece of wearable Art Deco Chinese textile art.
