This antique pink purple floral crewel work embroidery coat dates from the 1920s. It is made of an off white fine soft merino wool, with pastel pink and purple crewel work, chain stitch hand embroidered floral vine leaf designs. The design work completely covers the entire coat. This exquisite ethnic Kashmiri Indian inspired loose fitting boxy coat is mid length, with dolman style long full sleeves, a mandarin collar neckline and wool buttons with loop closures down the front. These crewel work style garments were made in Kashmir, and India. It has been relined in a lilac silk damask floral pattern fabric. There is the number 2814 embroidered along the inside bottom hemline. The coat measures 36 inches long, with 48 inch hips, waist, bust, a 17 inch back and 22 inch long sleeves. This quality made coat is in excellent clean wearable condition, with only a tiny moth hole on the sleeve which is difficult to see. It is truly a fabulous piece of wearable art.
