This vintage A. & K. Arouani paisley embroidered Egyptian coat jacket dates from the 1920s. It is made of an off white cream color fine wool fabric background, with colorful hand embroidery work done in an abstract geometric floral paisley pattern design. This luxurious long loose fitting boxy coat jacket has an embroidered wide collar, with large creamy white bakelite buttons for closure down the front and long full sleeves. It is fully lined in a bright golden yellow silk damask fabric, with a palm leaf pattern. There is an "A. & K. Arouani Apposite Shepheard's Hotel Cairo Egypt" scarab beetle label sewn inside. The coat measures 37 inches long, with 50 inch hips, a 44 inch waist, 42 inch bust, 15 inch back and 22 inch long sleeves. It is in excellent wearable condition and is truly a wonderful piece of wearable Egyptian textile art. $250 |
