This vintage Japanese geisha pink daisy mon silk screen kimono dates from the Showa Period 1960s. It is hand stitched, made of a pale pink pastel silk damask textured fabric done in a dotted fleck pattern. There are pink and white silk screen daisy flowers, with gold metallic thread couching embroidery work accents. The daisy symbolizes innocence, purity and faith. This fabulous formal Japanese senior geisha kimono has a single mon emblem family crest on the back neck (see close-up). It is fully lined and has a layered lapel collar. The kimono is quite heavy weighing over 2 pounds and measures 65 inches long, with 20 inch long kimono sleeves and is 55 inches across the shoulders. Included is the original tatoushi rice paper packaging wrapping. It is in good wearable condition, but does have a few small faint age spot stains on the sleeve. This is a wonderful piece of wearable Japanese textile art. |
