This antique Victorian Civil War era Ayrshire whitework christening gown dress dates from 1860. It is hand stitched, made of a fine white cotton batiste fabric, with Ayrshire whitework, raised padded satin stitch embroidery eyelet drawn thread cutwork and pleating. This beautiful baby infant christening gown dress has an empire waist, decorative ruche gathering on the top, a rounded drawstring neckline, short cap sleeves, a long full skirt and scalloped eyelet hem. There is a hook & eye, drawstring closure on the back. The gown measures 45 inches long, with a 18 inch waist, chest and 7 inch circumference arm hole opening. It is in excellent clean wearable condition.
