Antique White Silk Red Roses Embroidered Canton Piano Shawl. |
This antique white silk red roses embroidered Canton piano shawl dates from the 1920s. It is made of an off white ivory cream color silk fabric background with colorful silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work. There are a variety of bright colorful floral and green vine leaf designs done throughout, with a large red rose flower embroidered in each of the four corners. There is a fabulous hand knotted macramé off white silk fringe with original paper tag tied onto it, which measures 20 inches long surrounding the entire shawl with rounded corners. The shawls fabric square measures 54 by 54 inches. This quality made Manton Canton Chinese Cantonese style Spanish Flamenco shawl is quite heavy weighing over 2 pounds. It is in excellent wearable condition, with only a tiny faint age spot stain near the center (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable textile art.
