This vintage Ceil Chapman blush pink organdy strapless dress ball gown dates from the 1950s. It is made of a pale pastel blush pink color sheer organdy organza fabric, with pleated, layered ruffles down the front. There is a pink silk taffeta wide ribbon sash waistband which drapes down the back into a train. This fabulous formal evening ball gown party dress is strapless, with a pleated form fitting bodice, sweetheart neckline, long floor length full skirt. It is fully lined in pink silk taffeta, with stays boning sewn inside the bodice lining, a side zipper closure and "Ceil Chapman" designer label. Ceil designed for the movies, television and specialized in cocktail and formal evening wear. She was said to have been Marilyn Monroe’s favorite designer. The dress measures 54 inches long, with a 28 inch waist and 40 inch bust. It is in good wearable condition, with only a few tiny faint age spots under the arms (see close-up) and has not been cleaned. Included is a matching fabric shawl capelet stole wrap, with pleated ruffle edging and tie front closure. The shawl measures 10 inches wide and 83 inches long. This is truly a wonderful and rare piece of wearable designer textile art.
