Gold Metallic Mesh Embroidered Tunic Drop Waist Dress. |
This vintage Art Deco gold metallic mesh embroidered tunic drop waist dress dates from the 1920s. It is made of peach color silk fabric underdress, with a sheer fine gold metallic mesh overdress and gold metal thread raised padded satin stitch embroidery work done in a scrolling vine leaf pattern design. This fabulous flapper dress has a loose fitting drop waist tunic style, with a front and back embroidered panel attached along the open sides with a strap midway down, short cap sleeves sewn onto the slip underdress with a scalloped leaf design edging and a scoop V neckline. The dress measures 46 inches long, with an 11 inch wide panel, 40 inch hips, waist, a 34 inch bust and 10 inch long sleeves. It is in good wearable condition, with only some damage to the peach silk underdress slip. There are several repairs, patched mends, frayed holes to the underdress (see close-up) which could be removed and replaced. The gold mesh embroidered overdress is in excellent condition, with no damage. This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of wearable antique textile art.
