This vintage Spanish dancer striptease harem costume was worn by the performer Carmen Mendez known as "Carmencita" and dates from the 1940s. It is custom made, with bright colorful fluorescent neon colored hand sewn sequins and fabrics which were used for her exotic black light performances. This fabulous Flamenco Spanish Dancer burlesque striptease costume includes a cropped top and harem pants. The short cropped top is made of a sheer bright yellow nylon fabric, is sleeveless, with wired winged epaulets on the shoulders and snap closures on the back. It measures 12 inches long, with a 36 inch bust. There are loose fitting harem style pants made of a sheer colorful pastel rainbow watercolor silk fabric and bright yellow nylon fabric on the sides, with spiraling orange sequin trim accents and snap closures going down the side of the legs. There is colorful ribbon work connected together with thread brides and bars created into a hip hugging belted g-string panty, with snap closures on the waistband sides. The pants measure 38 inches long, with a 28 inch inseam, 34 inch hips and waist. This theatrical ensemble is well constructed, hand stitched and was custom made for the exotic striptease Spanish Dancer star Carmencita who performed in a variety of venues from San Francisco's historic Barbary Coast to the all girl revue at the Persian Palms in Minneapolis (see ads below). The outfit was stage worn and is in good wearable condition, with some minor wear, a few loose missing sequins and some breaks in the connecting thread bars. This is truly a rare unique one of kind find.
