This Victorian era antique wool paisley shawl stand-up collar cloak cape dates from 1890. It is made of a jacquard hand loomed woven wool done in strong vivid vibrant colors of red, orange, blue, green, gold, black and white in a decorative paisley pattern design. These jacquard style paisley shawls were made in Paisley, Scotland and were popular during the mid to late 1800s. This stunning shawl winter cape has exquisite workmanship and detail, with black soutache work applique's sewn along the bottom. It has been beautifully made into a short cloak cape, with a scalloped edge stand-up collar, full circular style and mother of pearl steel cut beaded button toggle paisley straps across the front for closure. It is fully lined in a brown cotton fabric lining, with inside pocket. The cape measures 28 inches long, 40 inches across the shoulders and is 107 inches in circumference along the bottom. It is in excellent clean wearable condition. This is truly a wonderful unique piece of wearable paisley textile art.
