This vintage Japanese geisha orange silk gold brocade gift cart wheel kimono obi sash dates from the Showa Period 1960s. It is made of a colorful orange hue silk gold metallic brocade fabric done in gift cart and wheel design, with chrysanthemum flowers, pine and kiri leaf patterns. This gorgeous Japanese senior geisha fulgurous obi sash would have been worn wrapped around securing a formal kimono used for ceremonial wear and celebration. It is two-sided with the same patterned brocade fabric on both sides and is long, wide and stiff. The obi is quality made, quite heavy weighing over 5 pounds and measures 160 inches long and is 13 inches wide. It is in excellent condition and is a wonderful piece of wearable Japanese textile art. $100 |
