This amazing antique Japanese purple silk padded satin stitch embroidery chrysanthemum kimono dates from the 1920s. It is hand stitched, made of a dark purple fine silk fabric, with colorful pastel silk raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery, French knot work, with spider chrysanthemum and peony flowers cascading downwards. This lovely long floor length kimono robe has an open front, full kimono sleeves, a rolled cotton batting stuffed hem and is fully lined in purple silk. It has outstanding workmanship and needlework skills. The kimono measures 55 inches long, with 20 inch long kimono sleeves and is 54 inches across the shoulders. It is in excellent wearable condition, with only some very slight faint fade discoloration on the front lapel neckline and a small age spot on the back sleeve. There is some fraying on the inside silk lining. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable antique Japanese textile art.
