This antique Victorian era burgundy wool velvet bustle skirt bodice jacket visiting gown dress dates from 1880. It is made of a dark red burgundy wine color wool and velvet fabrics. This beautiful bustle visiting gown traveling dress has a fitted bodice, with a velvet band high collar, gathered shoulders, long narrow sleeves with rolled velvet trim cuffs, a fanned bustle back drape and many tiny silk crochet buttons down the front for closure. It is fully lined, with stays boning sewn inside and a "Hoschede Rebours Paris" designer label on the waistband tie sash. The bodice measures 19 inches long, with a 24 inch waist, 32 inch bust and 12 inch back. There is a matching burgundy wool tailored over coat jacket, with a velvet trim fold over collar, long sleeves, silk buttons for closure down the front and is fully lined for warmth, with weights lining the bottom hem. The jacket measures 27 inches long, with a 32 inch waist, 36 inch bust and 12 1/2 inch back. There is a burgundy velvet full bustle back floor length skirt, a layered dust ruffle hemline which has pleating details, a white eyelet petticoat trim hem underneath, crinoline lining and built in large wire bustle half hoop, with pleated gathering on the brown polished cotton fabric for back extension support. The skirt measures 42 inches long, with a 26 inch waist. This outstanding three piece outfit has wonderful quality workmanship. The bodice has a tiny moth nip hole on back and the jacket is in excellent condition with no flaws. The skirt is missing the overskirt which would have draped over the bustle back and has some shedding of the crinoline lining. This is truly a rare Parisian Victorian visiting outfit. $500 |
