Vintage Liberty Art Deco Oriental Silk Foo Dog Voided Velvet Cape Cloak Shawl. Tweet

This amazing antique Art Deco Oriental silk foo dog voided velvet cape cloak shawl dates from the 1920s. It is made of a sheer black fine silk chiffon fabric, with a colorful blue, green and yellow voided velvet raised embossed Oriental Asian influence inspired floral foo dog lion design pattern. This magnificent long rectangle shape scarf stole shawl has a cape cloak style, with snap closures. This is reminiscent of "Liberty & Co. London & Paris" which has been synonymous with luxury and great design. It was one of the first to embrace the Art Nouveau style and Oriental fabrics. They became known for their artistic textiles and soft color palette referred to as "Liberty colors". The shawl measures 63 inches long and 35 inches wide. It is in good wearable condition, with only a small hole near the edging (see close-up). This is an extraordinary piece of Art Deco textile art!
