Antique Victorian Kashmir Hand Woven Embroidered Pieced Paisley Shawl

This Victorian era antique Kashmir hand woven embroidered pieced paisley shawl dates from the early 1800s. It is made of a soft fine pashmina goats fleece wool, hand stitched and embroidered with colorful natural dyed wool done in strong vivid vibrant colors, including a rare purple lavender color. This stunning shawl has exquisite workmanship and detail which is all hand embroidered and pieced together by hand, done in a patchwork of small pieces, with an Indian paisley design, boteh pine, cone motif. There is a small black wool star center. There is a colorful fringed decorative beautiful border edging surrounding the shawl. These paisley shawls were made in Kashmir, Persia and India. They were very popular during the mid to late 1800s with at least one being included in every better class trousseau. This outstanding shawl measures 76 by 76 inches. It is in good wearable condition, with several frayed rips in the black wool center which has been mended and patched on the back (see close-ups).
